Kosair Shriners Participates in The 42nd Harvest
Homecoming Festival - New Albany, IN - 10/03/09

Harvest Homecoming is a group of volunteers dedicated to providing a family oriented festival. It unites the community in a spirit of fellowship and is committed to continuous improvement.

Honored by the Library of Congress Bicentennial Local Legacies Project in 2000, Harvest Homecoming, a festival drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors to New Albany, Indiana, has been thriving and growing for 41 years. It was conceived as a means of bringing the people of southern Indiana together to share in its wealth of talent, historic background and beauty.

What is now over a week of events began as a three-day "Pumpkin Festival," a civic effort by the Tourism Bureau of the New Albany Chamber of Commerce, and is now run exclusively by Harvest Homecoming, Inc.

The 42nd Harvest Homecoming Festival will be held in October of 2009. Opening ceremonies include a parade featuring over 200 units (Parade grand marshals have included Olympic bronze medalist, Doug Sharp, basketball great David Robinson, Colonel Harlan Sanders, Davy Jones of the Monkees, Hans Conreid, Archie Campbell, James "The Virginian" Drury and Tom "Dukes of Hazard" Wopat).

Thanks to Randy Coe - Potentate, and Troy "The Rickster" Royalty for submitting these photos.

Let's get this show on the road!
Ceremonial Directors Staff from Kosair gathers to pose for a mug shot, err, I mean a group photo.
More of Kosair's finest along with Potentate Randy pose for a photo before the parade starts.
OK, one of them serves the food, and the other one eats it. Guess which one is which.
The Kosair Oriental Band Unit gets prepared to take part in the parade, well all but one it seems.
The Kosair Sand Bugs Club members arrive just in time to spice up the parade!
More of Kosair's finest gather for a group photo before the parade starts.
The Kosair Flying Fezzes Unit is also on the scene, but they'll stay on the ground for this event.
It's all smiles now, but someone is going to jail eventually. Never bring a sword to a gunfight.
OK, enough of all the "clowning around", it's time to get this parade on the move!
