Cookout at Kosair Charities on Eastern Parkway
For the Kosair Kids of Camp Quality - 06/27/2010

Nobles and friends of Kosair,

Hundreds of kids and their families enjoyed a fine outdoor party and meal before going to Camp Quality for a week of hope and fun. Each camp attendee is a child who is surviving cancer.

The Master Masons of St. George Lodge cooked a combined 500 hamburgers and hot dogs. Eleven Master Masons helped with the cooking. Past Potentate Roger Smith and Gary Fields worked tirelessly; yes, some past potentates do continue to help as they can :-). Oriental Guide Shawn Warren did his share as well. The lodge made a gift of $750 to help with camp activities.

Our Kosair Funsters entertained and amused the kids and families. It was tough duty given the heat and humidity. Denny "Gabby" Hardin, Darrell Blennis, and Don Flatt were some of the Funsters present.

Our Kosair Charities organized dozens of volunteers from Best Buy, the Geek Squad, Kosair nobles and their ladies, and others to help make it a fine day for everyone. Karen Ernspiker led the effort.

Thanks and acknowledgements were given by the kids in the form of a special ceremony featuring a cancer survivor and a "rod of hope" touching the shoulder of each volunteer.

Fraternally,
Randy Coe, PP
